Top 8 Technologies that will shape our FUTURE and has change our lifestyle

8. Autonomous Cars

Today’s cars are packed with a variety of driver assistance aids. You can get most any car today with GPS, but luxury car makers such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volvo provide a whole lot more. Options now include active cruise control, lane departure warning/intervention, traffic info and blind spot warning. These cars can even brake on their own to avoid hitting an obstacle or pedestrian in front of the vehicle.
A few years ago, DARPA ran its Grand Challenge, in which teams competed to race fully autonomous cars that drove themselves. They were tested in off-road, highway and urban settings. Some of these competitors later went to work for Google’s autonomous vehicle efforts.

In the future, we will have autonomous cars, where driver control will be optional. Even though the thought might seem scary, the cars will be safer than any car you’d pilot yourself. They will constantly evaluate their current environment with multiple sensors -- and they’ll never get distracted by text messages.
Will they be complex to operate? Not at all. Your PMC will act as a user interface to any device, including your autonomous car. It will know your schedule and address book, so when you get into your car one hour before an appointment, the car’s GPS will instantly display the destination address and arrival time. All you have to do is say, “Let’s go!”

7. CAD, 3D Printing & Custom Products

Computer-aided design (CAD) products are popular among engineers, designers and students for creating 3D product designs. But the software is often too advanced for the average consumer to design his or her own products.

In the future, however, CAD will allow the average consumer to design his own custom products that are both manufacturable and affordable. Consumers will be able to use simple software to combine predefined, configured product features. They’ll be able to personalize further by adding their own color palate, pictures, shapes and even personalized sizing.

3D Printing (3DP), like that from Dimension, is another amazing technology that will take a 3D CAD model and “print” layers of material, one on top of the previous, to produce a real physical model. It can create almost any shape, even those that can’t be made by traditional
manufacturing. The downside today is that the process is slow, costly, and often doesn’t produce parts strong enough for real world use. The technology in this industry is always advancing, and in the future, it will be able to produce robust parts quickly and cheaply.

3D Printing in an industrial setting is often referred to as “additive manufacturing.” As products are ordered online, versatile manufacturing stations controlled by robots will quickly and affordably crank out custom-manufactured products. The robots will be controlled by process software that will be integrated with future CAD.

Online custom products are slowly gaining popularity. You can go to NIKEiD and design your own customized Nike shoes. The downside is that they are pricey and will take several weeks to get to you. Other websites such as ShapeWays and Ponoko are useful for many DIYers. The mass market appeal of sites like these will grow in the future (when combined with the simpler CAD described above) with fast, flexible and inexpensive manufacturing.

6. Social Networking

Social networking as it exists today on Facebook and Twitter requires users to do extra work to extract value. We must diligently manage our community of friends and followers, and weed through all the tweets and posts for those that pique our interest. In the future, the management of our network will be dynamic and automated; the system will make and break connections to ensure maximum value. As updates are posted, for example, only those relevant to you at the present moment will make it through the filter to your PMC.
Social networking may also become more integrated with other components of our digital lives, like our calendars, address books and GPS. When going to a scheduled meeting with someone, you may be presented with recent and relevant posts that person made on Facebook to help prepare for small talk.

5. Augmented Reality

Today’s augmented reality (AR) will add floating text, symbols and 3D virtual images to a camera’s video feed to make it more informative or entertaining. Numerous iPhone apps like Layar provide local information. Tissot watches and Olympus cameras have webpages that let you experience virtual products. And Lego has a great point of sale display that lets kids virtually play with the toy inside the box they’re holding. You can even use AR glasses to experience this technology in a slightly more immersive, first-person point of view.
In the future, AR glasses will project images onto the lenses using components that are barely noticeable. Your PMC will display information on your glasses much like a heads-up display (HUD), for instance, with symbols projected along the periphery. Look at a symbol and say something, and your PMC will act on the broadcasted message. Your PMC will also do a great job of minimizing the information displayed, limiting it to just what you need to know now.

4. Eye-Tracking / Voice Commands

Today’s eye-tracking technology from companies like Tobii is used heavily in usability research. Where are people looking on a webpage, and how do their eyes move around it? Voice recognition products like Dragon from Nuance are used extensively when transcribing voice to text.

In the future, this technology will be combined with augmented reality (AR) to create a near-invisible and natural user interface for your PMC. We’ll call these information glasses. The object you’re viewing and the words you speak will be transmitted to your PMC, which will interpret your intent, find and compute and then transmit the results back to you visually and/or verbally. Look at a restaurant and say, “Do they have good salads there?” A moment later, you will hear the highest-rated salads, communicated via your information glasses either by visual display or audible voice, depending on what you are doing at that moment, like driving.

3. Cloud Computing

There is certainly a lot of hype around cloud computing, but few technology providers have done a good job explaining or providing services that are relevant to the average person.
The two most notable exceptions are Google and Apple. Google Docs is arguably the first cloud-based app that gained mainstream traction. Apple’s iCloud looks like it has the potential to cross the chasm and move the early majority into the cloud.

With tomorrow’s cloud computing, all of our personal information and the applications will be available to us at any time. Whether you’re editing a text document while riding a train, or adjusting a sales proposal at a client’s office, you’ll never be without the information needed to complete a task.

2. 3G and 4G Wireless Broadband

“How many bars do I have?” We’re frequently checking smartphone signal strength when wirelessly browsing the Internet and retrieving our email. Today’s 3G and 4G networks provide acceptable but intermittent connections and okay speed. This must change.

The deployment of today’s cell towers is a slow, deliberate and costly affair. In the future, deployment will be faster and more organic. Wireless providers will likely credit homeowners’ monthly bills for having devices like AT&T’s 3G MicroCell at home. With enough of these devices in place, even remote neighborhoods and towns will enjoy solid wireless access to the cloud.

So in the future, personal mobile computers (PMCs) won’t even have signal strength indicators; wireless access to the cloud will be pervasive and ultra-fast at all times.

1. Smartphones

Smartphones, like today’s iPhone, are as much a computer as they are a communication device. Besides having a great multi-touch interface and fast CPU, they contain sensors like cameras, gyros, accelerometers, GPS and compasses. They allow us to calculate and communicate anytime, anywhere

In the future, they’ll evolve into personal mobile computers (PMC). Assuming that Moore’s law holds true, mobile CPUs with near super-computing speeds will be entirely possible. The number, accuracy and performance of sensors will grow, the combination of which will give the user a very powerful sense of her surroundings.

Your PMC will move to your wrist and take the place of your watch. (Microsoft had this vision with SPOT, but the technology came too early and was too limited.) The device’s display will not need to be your primary user interface (UI), so the PMC can be a small, diverse fashion statement like today’s watches. The primary UI will become personal peripherals, like information glasses and headsets. You’ll be able to interact naturally in a visual and audible way.

Your PMC and personal peripherals will become your interface to every other computer, device and machine you interact with. The only UI you will ever need to know is that of your PMC.
Not only will your personal peripherals allow you to explicitly interact with the digital (and physical) worlds, but they’ll also provide subtle cues to your subconscious. While looking through your information glasses, a restaurant might emit a subtle, warm blue tint because it was reviewed positively by patrons. It will feel like a good place to eat. Are your spidey senses tingling?

Twitter flooded with malicious tweets from compromised accounts

Over the last 24 hours or so, Twitter has been flooded with spam tweets from compromised accounts which appear to be coming from third party apps and services.

It has been observed that social media spam has been replacing email spam in recent times and now Twitter has apparently been hit yet again by a sizeable wave of such spam tweets. According to Ars Technica, the tweets initially seemed to be coming from accounts linked to social image sharing site weheartit.com. However, later on, the same tweets started appearing from "Twitter for iPhone" which isn't necessarily a reliable indicator, as the source can be easily spoofed.

Weheartit.com's president responded to Ars in an email saying, "We are definitely seeing some malicious activity which we have now blocked and are investigating further. Unfortunately I don't have any other information I can share at this point." The company has since disabled Twitter logins and sharing to prevent further spam.

All the tweets which have been observed by Twitter users contain the same message: "If I didn't try this my life wouldn't have changed" and a shortened URL. It is yet to be determined whether the spam URL links to spyware but users are recommended not to click on these links nonetheless. Those users whose accounts have been compromised should revoke access to the third-party services linked to their accounts and change their passwords to prevent further spam.

Spammers using social media instead of email

According to security experts, social networking sites, rather than email, are now the most favored platform for spammers to peddle their unsolicited links, as reported by Bloomberg.

This is partially due to the fact that email spam filters have become so effective that tens of billions of spam messages are now being diverted to social media sites instead, according to Dan Olds of Gabriel Consulting Group.

Mark Risher, chief executive officer of anti-spam software provider Impermium, said, "Social spam can be a lot more effective than e-mail spam. We see a lot of it, and we see it increasing. The bad guys are taking to this with great abandon."

According to Risher, as many as 40% of the accounts on social networking sites are actually owned as spammers, and approximately 8% of all messages sent via those sites are spam. This is approximately twice the volume of spam messages sent just six months ago.

Facebook and Twitter have even resorted to suing advertising networks that are accused of running scams on fraudulent pages, which can lead to users canceling their accounts after poor experiences with the social networks.

And while bigger social networks like Facebook and Twitter have the experience and resources to detect and combat spammers more effectively, newer sites like Pinterest might not be quite so prepared. On Pinterest, spam links can be hidden in the embedded links attached to photos, which can be difficult for users to notice. The links could then potentially take users to pornography websites or a virus download. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an easy solution in the endless battle against spam.

Pinterest wants to be more than social network for DIY

Pinterest CEO Ben Silbermann at a company product annoucement on Thursday.
Pinterest, the social network of choice for cocktail recipes and succulent gardening, is making a play to broaden its user base beyond the DIY set.

On Thursday evening the company introduced a slew of new products for the visual discovery network, including Guided Search, a tool that seeks to guide Pinners to what they’re looking for even when a they don’t know quite know how to ask for it.

The announcement, at a lavish Pinterest headquarters party that included craft stations with activities such as learning to fold pocket squares, represents a move by the company to expand beyond its current, largely female demographics. At present, women are about four times more likely to use Pinterest than men.

But Pinterest wants users to consider it as more than just a place to curate collections of bundt cake recipes and artfully torn jeans.

“Pinterest, afterall, is about discovering things you didn’t know were out there, ” said CEO Ben Silbermann.

The idea behind Guided Search is to “guide a user through discovery” by delivering to users to what they’re searching for even when they don’t know directly how to ask for it.

Say you search road trip — Pinterest will help you sift through good ideas from other Pinners, and as you tap ones that sound interesting the site will work to send you in the right search direction.

This could make Pinterest potentially valuable as a sophisticated visual search tool — and also potentially more appealing to a broader base of users.

“The problem of how you discover things is a really tough one,” Silbermann said at a conference last May. “Problems like, ‘What should my living room look like?’ That’s at the heart of our interests right now.”

Pinterest, the company said, has grown its number of pins by 50 percent in just the past six months and there are more than 750 million boards on the site, but it has still had trouble growing beyond the image of being a digital clipboard service for women.

The company also introduced a custom categories feature and updates to its related pins feature.

Leveraging its unparalleled data set, Adobe's Social Media Intelligence Report is a comprehensive analysis and is based on 260 billion Facebook ad impressions, 226 billion Facebook post impressions, 17 billion referred visits from social networking sites, and seven billion brand post interactions including comments, likes and shares. Paid social data is derived from aggregated Adobe Marketing Cloud data.

"Social media continued to grow even after a strong holiday quarter and the seasonal slowdown expected in Q1," said Tamara Gaffney, principal analyst, Adobe Digital Index. "Marketers are learning how to best reach their audiences across different social media channels and companies like Facebook are making changes to their algorithms and adding functionalities like auto-play of videos, which impact brands and users and how they engage with content."

According to the report, Facebook ad clicks and impressions are on the rise with clicks continuing to outpace impressions. However, Facebook's cost per click (CPC) dipped two percent YoY and 11 percent QoQ following a strong holiday season.

Brand posts with embedded video gained traction in Q1 - with 58 per cent more engagement QoQ and 25 per cent growth YoY. Facebook video plays increased 785 per cent YoY and 134 per cent QoQ following auto-plays for videos being implemented in Q4 2013. Meanwhile, text-only Facebook brand posts are losing share and engagement, but posts with links rose 167 per cent QoQ and 77 per cent YoY.

Twitter and Facebook referred RPV increased YoY (5 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively), but Twitter
driven RPVs dipped 23 per cent QoQ. Tumblr referred RPV is up 55 per cent YoY, but slumped 36 per cent QoQ.

LinkedIn stood out with a 15 per cent share of social traffic to B2B high-tech sites. Only Facebook drove more traffic (52 per cent) to B2B high-tech sites in Q1.

In A Bullish Move, Twitter To Report Earnings Ahead Of Employee Lock-Up Expiration

Following its blockbuster IPO, Twitter soared north of $70 per share, topping out at $74.73. Not bad for a company that priced at $26 per share. Since that late-2013 high, Twitter has retreated, trading today just over the $40 mark. It traded under that threshold last week.

In the face of that slide, and despite a massive share-price correction — read: selloff — following its fourth-quarter earnings, Twitter is scheduled to report its first quarter earnings before May 5, the date when a large number of its shares owned by employees will unlock. Unlocked shares are available for sale on the public markets.

That flood of freshly free equity could lead to a share price depression, as employees hungry for liquidity dump their long-held equity onto the public market. There is a wrinkle, however. If employees are largely convinced that the best days of their employer are ahead, they have a large financial incentive to hang on to those shares.

This makes the timing of Twitter’s decision to release its earnings pre-lockup interesting. It’s a power play of sorts. If Twitter were expecting a poor earnings report, it would want to release it post-lockup, thereby lessening the incentive for employees to cash out on the first day possible. The company wants to avoid its employees selling shares en masse, as that would provide a very negative signal to the investing public.

So Twitter is publicly betting that, by releasing earnings ahead of the lock-up expiration, employee interest in selling their shares will decrease. And you don’t negatively incentivize your denizens against harming your firm.

So log cabins aside, Twitter could be obliquely signaling that it had a big first quarter, or at least one good enough to prevent a mass sell-off of its shares by its workers.

Executives at Twitter indicated today that they intend to hold onto their shares in the company after the lock-up period ends.

Twitter is expected to lose $0.03 per share (non-GAAP) on revenue of $240.93 million. In the fourth quarter of 2013, Twitter made $0.02 (non-GAAP) on revenue of $242.7 million, besting analyst expectations on both scores. However, investors soured on its slow user growth.

TechCrunch reached out to Twitter for comment on the timing of its earnings, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

Facebook ‘Nearby Friends’ Will Track Your Location History To Target You With Ads

Facebook says it’s not using its new Nearby Friends feature to target ads yet, but after I asked why it’s tracking “Location History” it admitted it will eventually use the data for marketing purposes.
This morning, the proximity sharing feature began rolling out to iOS users after it’s launch yesterday, and with it I discovered a new “Location History” setting that must be left on to use Nearby Friends.
For an overview of how the Nearby Friends option lets you share your proximity or real-time exact location, and its privacy implications, read my feature article from yesterday’s launch.

The description below the Location History setting in Nearby Friends reads “When Location History is on, Facebook builds a history of your precise location, even when you’re not using the app. See or delete this information in the Activity Log on your profile.” Notice the careful use of ‘builds a history’ instead of the scarier word ‘tracks’.

Behind the Learn More link, Facebook explains that you can turn this tracking off but, “Location History must be turned on for some location feature to work on Facebook, including Nearby Friends.” It also notes that “Facebook may still receive your most recent precise location so that you can, for example, post content that’s tagged with your location or find nearby places.” So even if you turn it off, Facebook will still collect location data when necessary it did before Nearby Friends debuted.

If you leave it on, you’ll see your coordinates periodically added to your Activity Log. However, you’ll only see your Location History if you scroll to the bottom of the filter options and look at this category of data specifically. It’s a bit sketchy that these maps don’t show up in the default view of Activity Log like most other actions.  It’s almost like Facebook is trying to discourage use of the Clear Location History button:

There are plenty of ways Facebook could use this data to make your experience better. The company says “Location History helps us know when it makes the msot sense to notify you (for example, by making sure we don’t send you a notification every time a Facebook friend who works with you is also in the office).”

By tracking where you are, Facebook could show you more relevant News Feed stories from friends or Pages nearby. For example, if Facebook sees I’m in the North Beach district of San Francisco instead of my home district of the Mission in the South of the city, it might increase the likelihood that I’d see status updates from friends who live up there, or an Italian restaurant in the area whose Page I Liked. It could also suggest Events happening nearby.

If I travel far from home, say to London, Facebook could show more posts from friends who live there or Pages based in the U.K. It could also know not to show me checkins or Events from home that would be irrelevant while I’m away.

 Location Advertising

But there are also big opportunities for Facebook to use Location History to help itself make money. When I asked if it could power advertising, a Facebook spokesperson told me “at this time it’s not being used for advertising or marketing, but in the future it will be.”
It wouldn’t confirm exactly how, but I foresee it targeting you with ads for businesses that could actually be in sight or just a few hundred feet away. An ad for a brick-and-mortar clothing shop would surely be more relevant if shown when you’re on the same block. The ability to generate foot traffic that leads to sales could let Location History-powered Facebook ads generate big returns on investment for meatspace business advertisers. That means they’d be willing to pay more for these hyper-local ads than for ones pointed to users who are far away and much less likely to visit their store.

Facebook’s own VP Carolyn Everson discussed how she imagined Facebook ads might evolve in a call with Bloomberg in 2012, saying “Phones can be location-specific so you can start to imagine what the product evolution might look like over time, particularly for retailers”. And back in 2011, Facebook acquired a hyperlocal ad targeting startup called Rel8tion.
Luckily, Facebook says that putting Location History in the Activity Log “gives people a way to view and delete the underlying data.” That’s a relief, as it means you could use Nearby Friends with Location History turned on and then clear your history in the Activity Log to prevent that data from being used for marketing if you’re really concerned about that. The company explains that “When you hit delete we remove data from the user interface immediately and start working to permanently delete the data from the system.”

While there’s always a vocal minority angry about Facebook’s aggressive ad targeting, and the wider public is generally uneasy about it, we’ve seen that these feelings don’t necessarily change people’s behavior in the long-term. That ‘s why Facebook is still thriving with big revenues. And over time I believe the world will get more comfortable with ad targeting. There’s going to be ads on Facebook no matter what, and I personally would rather see relevant ones for local businesses than ads for random apps or websites.

Still, the realization that Location History will be used for ad targeting could scare some people away from using Nearby Friends.

This sentiment is dangerous for Facebook because Nearby Friends is off by default and users have to actively turn it on. It’s also stuck in the navigation menu of its main iOS and Android apps. If users turn it off or refuse to turn it on in the first place, it may be too buried for them to voluntarily go in and activate it.

Facebook may have anticipated this, which could partly be why it plans to use News Feed teaser stories like “4 friends are nearby” to try to coax users into turning on Nearby Friends and Location History. With both social and marketing privacy concerns looming, though, Facebook will have to clearly demonstrate that Nearby Friends makes your life better by helping you gather with friends, or people won’t give up their data to use it.

Facebook To Add Trending Topics Like Twitter

Facebook is reported to include trending topics along with the News Feed on the home screen. “Trending” as Facebook calls it, will show a personalized list of popular topics for every user, based on their interests the content getting the most attention across the Facebook.

The trends will show a short description and the content when clicked upon. The trending topics will be calculated upon the rising popularity of that topic. The topics which are on top daily will not necessarily be considered trending.
Facebook will start adding this feature from Thurdsday and will be available on Web version of Facebook.

How To Find out the Friends Who Un-friend You On Facebook

Nowadays Most of People are using Facebook like social networking sites to interact with new Peoples from all over the World. These kinds of sites offer various features which makes this interaction effective.Facebook, The king of all social networking sites offer a feature of Poke, twitter provides a feature of tweets and google plus provides a +1 feature as a brand tag.But the thing that all these giant social networking sites leak is that "They aren't still having an option for unfriend notification". For. I.e.: Yesterday you saw 416 friends in your friend list, but today you find only 412 friends in your friend list than these social networking sites will not offer a way by which you can find out the name of 4 Peoples who had unfriend you on Facebook.

But there are still some Facebook tricks out in market by which we can easily find out the name of the friends who had unfriend us on Facebook. Actually we can do this trick with the help of a third-party application by which we can even get the unfriend notification when a friend unfriend us.

Here are Some easy Steps

1) Go To who.deleted.me

2) Signup using your Facebook account.

3) For the first time it only records data and doesn't show any name of friends who had deleted you before you used this service. Now onwards when you use this application this will tell you the name of the Facebook friends who had deleted you on Facebook.

How Who.deleted.me works?

Who.deleted.me having their own Facebook application, which tries to get the names of all the friends from your Facebook friend list when you login for the first time. Next time when you login for the service it extracts the names of all the friends from your friend list and compares it with the first list. If the list has any difference then it will show the names of the friends who had deleted you on Facebook.

How To Be Safe On Facebook

Facebook users are increasing day by day now it has more than 1 million active users. As the facebook popularity increased, facebook hacking too increased tremendously. According to a popular magazine more than 600,000 facebook accounts get hacked daily. Today we are sharing some tips on how to be safe on facebook. Every facebook user must have to follow these tips to stay safe on facebook.

So here are some tips to be safe on facebook:

1) Choose strong password: Choosing a strong password always keep facebook account safe from brute forcing or dictionary attacks. Brute forcing is a process of guessing password by trying many combinations of words. It's a slow process and become much slower if you use a password which has combinations of characters, numbers and special symbols.

 2) Keep eye on address bar: At the time of entering facebook credentials, always keep an eye on address bar of browser. Many hackers use phishing pages which are exactly similar to original facebook login page to grab the credentials of a facebook user. Don't provide your password to any other domain rather than facebook.com

3) Choose different passwords: Always choose a different password for your primary email address and facebook account. This helps when you want to recover your account from hackers. If both the passwords will be same than a hacker can easily change both passwords after gaining access to one of them. If your primary email address password is different, than a hacker can't able to change it and you can easily get back your hacked facebook account by clicking on forget my password link.

4) Hide mail address from Profile: Hiding email address from facebook account guarantees that no one can see your real email address which you are using for signing in. and a hacker can't able to send you phishing links and malicious software to gain your facebook password.

5) Enable secure browsing: By enabling secure browsing, any facebook user can be safe from man in middle attacks. MIM attacks are used by hackers to interpret information between user browser and facebook servers. By using secure browsing the data from browser to server is sent as encrypted message that can't be read by hackers. To enable secure browsing, Go to account settings > Security tab > Enable Secure Browsing. Once secure browsing is activated, protocol in your address bar will changed to https:// instead of traditional http://

6) Choose an unpredictable security Question’s Answer: Security Questions plays an important role in any accounts security, It's always important to choose an unpredictable answer of security question, many hackers use social engineering or dorking to get an answer of security question. Let's say you choose a security question "What is your father's middle name?" on facebook. Then a hacker can easily get answer of this question from you. The task becomes much easier if hacker knows you personally.

7) Don't add unknown peoples in friend list: facebook having a 3 friend's security vulnerability. A smart hacker can easily get access to your facebook account, if he adds 3 fake profiles to your facebook friend list. So its safe to keep some distance from unknown peoples on facebook.

8) Enable login notifications: Facebook provides a great facility by which you can get sms notifications when your facebook account is accessed. To enable login notifications, Go to account settings > Security tab > Enable login notifications by Marking Text message/Push notification box. After you enable login notifications, you will get SMS each time when your facebook account opens by you or any other person. If you didn't access your facebook account and got a login notification sms on your mobile than its recommended to quickly access to your facebook account and change your password.

9) Don't download anything from untrusting sources: Many free softwares comes bundled with a lot of viruses, key loggers and Trojans. These kinds of malicious softwares can harm your computer as well as can transfer data including passwords and other important details from your computer to hacker's machine. It's recommended that you don't download things from torrents, forums and any other untrusting websites.

10) Keep antivirus updated: In order to be safe on facebook always use license version updated antivirus. A patched antivirus can't be effective in fight against hackers.

11) Change password frequently: if a white hat or ethical hacker will hack your account then I am sure that he will not change your password. He only uses it to spy on you. If you change your password frequently then you can get back your facebook account from these kinds of hackers.

12) Keep firewall on: keeping firewall on is important to be safe from port scanning and Trojans attacks. If your firewall is off then hacking your computer will be just a piece of cake for a hacker.

13) Don't provide facebook Password to other sites: Many peoples have a habit to provide same password at the time of sign up on other sites which they used for facebook. If you do so, then it's very easy for webmasters to get access to your facebook account.
