Ankit Tiwari, 'Singer of Ashiqui 2' arrested for allegedly raping girlfriend

Ankit Tiwari, who rose to fame with his hit song 'Sun raha hain na tu' of 'Ashiqui 2', has been arrested on rape charges. Ankit's brother has also been arrested for threatening the victim.

A Mid-Day report says:

"The victim is 28-years old who is not from the film industry. She was staying in Mumbai with her sister and met the singer through common friends. The two have been in touch with each other and Ankit used to visit her house frequently."

A Deccan Chronicles report says:

"The victim was Ankit's girlfriend (an event management professional). Ankit has decided not to marry her despite promising to marry her."

The police have said that the incident happened late last night. The singer had come to meet the girl at her sister's home when she find her alone, and allegedly raped her.
